Getting There

  • Walking

    From the central park in Masaya (Parque Central de Masaya), head south on Calle 1. Continue on this street until you reach the intersection with Avenida 2. Turn left onto Avenida 2 and walk straight. You'll pass a few local shops and cafes. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach the bus terminal (Terminal de Buses de Masaya). From there, you can catch a local bus or 'microbus' heading to Catarina. The fare is usually around 15-20 Cordobas. The bus ride to Catarina will take approximately 30 minutes.

    Once you arrive at the bus terminal, look for the buses labeled 'Catarina' or 'Catarina-Pueblo' which depart frequently throughout the day. Board the bus and pay for your fare. After about 30 minutes, you'll arrive in the town of Catarina. Get off at the main square where you’ll see the local market. From here, you can either walk to the Mirador de Catarina or take a short taxi ride (which should cost around 50 Cordobas). Walking will take about 15-20 minutes; just follow the main road, and you'll see signs pointing towards the mirador.

    If you prefer not to walk from the main square in Catarina to the Mirador, you can take a taxi. Just ask for a taxi at the main square and tell the driver you want to go to Mirador de Catarina. The ride should take about 5-10 minutes and cost around 50-100 Cordobas depending on negotiation.
