Getting There

• Light Rail

  Start at any of the light rail stations in Charlotte. If you're near the Uptown area, the closest station is the '7th Street Station'. Board the Lynx Blue Line heading towards 'I485/South Boulevard'. Travel for just a couple of stops and get off at '9th Street Station'. From the station, walk east on 9th Street towards the intersection with E 7th Street. Turn left on E 7th Street, and walk a couple of blocks until you reach First Ward Park at 301 E 7th St. It should take roughly 10-15 minutes from the station.

• Bus

  If you're near a bus stop, check for the 'CATS' bus routes that service the Uptown area. Routes 11 and 16 can take you close to First Ward Park. Board the bus and ask the driver to let you know when you reach the E 7th St stop. Once you get off, walk east on E 7th Street for a short distance, and you will arrive at First Ward Park located at 301 E 7th St. The total travel time can vary but expect around 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

• Walking

  If you are already in Uptown Charlotte, you can easily walk to First Ward Park. From the main square at Trade and Tryon, head east on Trade St until you reach the intersection with 7th Street. Turn left onto 7th Street and continue walking until you reach First Ward Park at 301 E 7th St. The walk is approximately 15-20 minutes and provides a nice view of the city as you go.

• Bike Share

  Charlotte has a bike-sharing program called 'Charlotte B-cycle'. Locate a nearby bike station, rent a bicycle, and head towards Uptown. Navigate to 7th Street, and head east until you reach First Ward Park at 301 E 7th St. The bike ride should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your starting point, and you can enjoy the fresh air and scenery along the way.
