    From the Nantahala Outdoor Center, head southeast on US-19 N for about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Wayah Road and continue for about 3 miles. You will reach the Nantahala River, which is just past the intersection with Forest Service Road 67. Look for parking areas along the river.

    If you're using public transportation, take the local shuttle service from Bryson City to the Nantahala Outdoor Center. From there, you can walk approximately 1 mile southeast along US-19 N, then turn left onto Wayah Road to reach the Nantahala River. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance.

  • Car

    If you're coming from the town of Murphy, take US-64 E for about 15 miles, then merge onto US-19 N. Continue on US-19 N for approximately 20 miles until you reach Wayah Road. Turn left onto Wayah Road and follow it for about 3 miles to find access points to the Nantahala River.
