Getting There

• Car

  From the heart of Nantahala National Forest, head east on NC-19 toward Bryson City. Continue on NC-19 for approximately 15 miles until you reach the junction with US-441. Turn right onto US-441 South. After about 3 miles, take a left onto NC-28 South. Stay on NC-28 for about 12 miles until you reach Franklin. As you approach Franklin, you will see a sign for Cherokee Mine Road. Turn right onto Cherokee Mine Road. The Cherokee Ruby & Sapphire Mine will be on your left at 41 Cherokee Mine Rd, Franklin, NC 28734. The total driving time is approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

  Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. If you are staying in Bryson City or Franklin, check with local taxi services or rideshare apps for transportation to the mine. Alternatively, consider booking a shuttle service if available from nearby hotels.
