Getting There

• Car

  If you're already in Nantahala National Forest, start by heading to Tsali Road. From any point in the forest, use local signs or a GPS device to navigate to Tsali Road. For example, if you're near the Nantahala Outdoor Center, take US-74 East towards Whittier. After about 8 miles, take the exit towards NC-28 South. Continue for about 5 miles, then turn left onto Tsali Road. Follow Tsali Road for approximately 2 miles until you reach the Tsali Trailhead parking area at 8105 Tsali Rd, Whittier, NC 28789.

• Public Transportation

  There is no direct public transportation to Tsali Trailhead. However, you could take a bus to Bryson City. From Bryson City, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the trailhead. The distance from Bryson City to Tsali Trailhead is approximately 20 miles, and the taxi fare may vary, usually costing around $40-$60. Ensure to check local taxi services or rideshare availability in advance.

• Bicycle

  If you’re feeling adventurous and are equipped with a bicycle, you can bike to Tsali Trailhead. From the Nantahala Outdoor Center, take the same route as if you were driving: head East on US-74, then turn onto NC-28 South. It’s about a 13-mile ride to reach Tsali Road, and then another 2 miles on Tsali Road to the trailhead. Be prepared for some elevation changes and ensure your bike is suitable for road use.
