From Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park, head northeast on Fort Lincoln Rd. Continue for about 3 miles until you reach the intersection with State Hwy 1806. Turn right onto State Hwy 1806 and continue for approximately 5 miles. You will then merge onto I-94 W toward Bismarck. Stay on I-94 for about 6 miles. Take exit 161 for US-83 N toward Bismarck. Follow US-83 N for about 2 miles, then take exit 1A for State St. Turn right onto State St and continue for about 2 miles. Turn left onto 93rd St NE, and McDowell Dam Recreation Area will be on the right at 1951 93rd St NE, Bismarck, ND 58501. Parking is available on-site, and there may be a small entrance fee depending on the season.
