Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Svolvær, the largest town in the Lofoten Islands. Take the E10 road towards Henningsvær. After approximately 20 kilometers, turn onto Henningsværveien. Follow this road for about 10 kilometers until you reach Festvågtind, located at Henningsværveien 51, 8312 Henningsvær. There is parking available near the trailhead. Please note that road conditions may vary, so ensure your vehicle is suitable for driving in rural Norway.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Festvågtind via public transportation, you can take a bus from Svolvær to Henningsvær. The bus service is operated by Nordland fylkeskommune, and you can check the schedule online. Once you arrive at Henningsvær, you may need to walk approximately 1 kilometer to reach Henningsværveien 51 where the trailhead for Festvågtind is located. Ensure to check the last bus timings for your return trip.
Hiking
Once you have reached the parking area or the bus stop near Henningsværveien, look for the marked trailhead leading to Festvågtind. The hike is well-marked and typically takes about 2-3 hours to reach the summit, depending on your pace. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water and snacks. The views from the top of Festvågtind are stunning, providing a breathtaking panorama of the Lofoten Islands.
