Getting there

Public Bus

From Bodø city center, walk to the nearest bus stop named 'Bodø Rutebilstasjon' (Bodø Bus Station). You can find it at Storgata 1, which is about a 5-minute walk from the main square. Once at the bus station, look for the bus line that goes to Saltstraumen. The bus number you need is 20 or the relevant line to Saltstraumen. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the 'Saltstraumen' bus stop. Once you disembark, you will need to walk approximately 10 minutes towards the coast, following the signs to Saltstraumen. You will be able to see and hear the whirlpool from the area.

Bicycle Rental

If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the bike rental shops in Bodø, such as 'Bodø Bike Rental', located near the harbor. After renting your bike, head towards the main road (Riksvei 80) that leads to Saltstraumen. The distance is about 30 kilometers, and it will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to cycle there. Follow the signs for Saltstraumen, and enjoy the scenic views along the route. Once you arrive, you can park your bike in a designated area near the attraction.

Walking Tour

For those feeling adventurous, you can walk to Saltstraumen. From the Bodø city center, head south towards the waterfront and follow the coastal path.
