If you are starting from the Trondheim Central Station (Trondheim Sentralstasjon), exit the station and head south on Jernbanegata. Walk straight for about 500 meters until you reach the intersection with Thomas Angells gate. Turn right onto Thomas Angells gate and continue walking for approximately 300 meters until you reach the square called Torget. Olav Tryggvason is located in this square, marked by the prominent statue of the king.
