Edmond, Oklahoma, was established during the Land Run of 1889. On April 22, 1889, thousands of settlers rushed to claim lands in the Unassigned Lands, and Edmond was one of the original townships to be settled. The town was named after Edmond Burdick, a Santa Fe railroad station agent.
