Head west on E 3rd St toward N Main St. Turn left onto N Main St and continue for about 20 miles, following signs for US-26 W. Merge onto US-26 W and continue for approximately 25 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 42, which will lead you toward the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. After about 10 miles, you will see signs for the Big Obsidian Flow Trailhead. The parking area should be clearly marked.

    For those using public transportation, take a bus from Bend to Sunriver via the Cascades East Transit service. From Sunriver, you will need to rent a car or use a rideshare service to reach the Big Obsidian Flow Trailhead.
