Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Prineville, Oregon. Head north on NE 3rd St toward NE Court St. Continue on OR-26 W for approximately 18 miles. Take a left onto NF-1275. Follow NF-1275 for about 2 miles until you reach Haystack Reservoir Campground and Day Use Area, which will be on your right.
Car from Madras
If you're coming from Madras, head south on US-97 S. After about 17 miles, take the exit toward Culver. Turn right onto Culver Highway and then left onto NF-1275. Follow NF-1275 for about 4 miles, and you will find the Haystack Reservoir Campground and Day Use Area on your left.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, take the Central Oregon Breeze bus service to the nearest bus stop at Culver. From the bus stop in Culver, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Haystack Reservoir, as public transport does not extend to the campground directly. The distance from Culver to the campground is approximately 6 miles, so ensure to check the taxi fare in advance.
