Getting There

Car
If you're starting from the town of Jefferson, Oregon, head south on OR-99E for about 8 miles, then take a left onto OR-22 E. Continue on OR-22 E for approximately 24 miles until you reach the junction with US-20. Merge onto US-20 E and drive for another 15 miles, then turn right onto NF-12 (also known as the Santiam Highway). Follow NF-12 for about 5 miles and take a left onto NF-220. Continue on NF-220 for about 10 miles until you arrive at the Mount Jefferson Wilderness area. Be aware that some forest roads may require a high-clearance vehicle.

From Salem, you can take the Cherriots bus service to reach Jefferson. Once in Jefferson, follow the car instructions provided above. Alternatively, consider using a rideshare service to get to Jefferson from Salem, then continue as described for car travel. Note that public transportation may not directly take you to the wilderness area, and a car or rideshare will be necessary to reach Mount Jefferson Wilderness from Jefferson.
