Car
If you are driving, first make sure you have a reliable GPS or map. From Salem, Oregon, head east on OR-22 E for approximately 25 miles. Take the exit toward OR-126 E and merge onto OR-126 E. Continue for about 17 miles until you reach the junction with NF-15 (Santiam Pass). Turn right onto NF-15 and follow the road for about 8 miles, keeping an eye out for signs pointing to Marion Lake. The lake will be on your left, and there is a parking area available. Note that there may be a fee for parking, so be prepared with cash or a credit card.

For those relying on public transportation, take a bus from Salem to Detroit, which is the nearest town to Marion Lake. Check the local transit schedules for availability. Once you arrive in Detroit, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the Marion Lake trailhead, as public transport does not go directly to the lake. The taxi ride will be approximately 10-15 minutes. From the trailhead, it's about a 2-mile hike to reach the lake. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and carry water, as the hike can be steep at times.
