    If you're traveling by car from any location in Mt. Hood Territory, head towards Cascade Locks, OR. From Portland, take I-84 East for about 45 miles. Take exit 44 for Cascade Locks and merge onto E. Columbia River Hwy. Follow the signs for Cascade Locks. Once you arrive in Cascade Locks, continue on E. Cascade Ave until you reach the entrance to the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness. There is no entry fee for accessing the wilderness.

    If you are using public transportation, take the MAX light rail from Portland to the Gateway Transit Center. From there, transfer to the Columbia Gorge Express bus service, which travels to Cascade Locks. The bus stop in Cascade Locks is close to the entrance of the Mark O. Hatfield Wilderness. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for the latest departure times. Tickets for the bus cost around $5 for adults.
