Car
If you're driving, head to Government Camp, OR 97028. From Highway 26, turn onto Government Camp Loop Road (look for signs for Timberline Lodge if you're coming from the east). Follow this road until you reach the Timberline Lodge, which is a great base for further exploration. Parking is available at Timberline Lodge, but be aware that a parking fee may apply.
Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, take the Mount Hood Express shuttle from Portland to Government Camp. Check the Mount Hood Express schedule for departures and arrivals. Once you arrive in Government Camp, you can either walk or take a local taxi service to Timberline Lodge, which serves as a good starting point for summit access. Note that the shuttle may run seasonally and has limited hours.
Hiking
From Timberline Lodge, you can access the climbing routes to Mt. Hood summit. The most commonly used route is the Palmer Glacier route. Make sure to check in at the lodge for any permits, climbing information, and weather conditions. A climbing fee may apply for certain routes, and it's recommended to hire a guide if you're inexperienced. Always ensure you have the proper gear and check conditions before heading out.
