Getting there

Public Transport

From Skardu city center, walk to the main bus terminal located near the Skardu Fort. Look for buses or vans heading towards Shigar. The frequency of transport is good, especially in the morning. Once you board the bus, it will take you directly to Shigar. The journey will take around 30-45 minutes, depending on road conditions. Make sure to inform the driver to drop you off at the entrance of Shigar Valley.

Walking

If you prefer to walk, head south from the Skardu city center towards the Shigar Road (also known as the Skardu-Shigar Road). It's approximately a 20-kilometer walk, so ensure you have enough time and water. Follow the signs along the road, and keep an eye out for the beautiful views as you approach Shigar. This is a longer trek and can take several hours, so it’s best for the more adventurous tourists.

Taxi

You can hire a local taxi from Skardu city center. There are many taxi stands near the main market area. Agree on the fare before starting your trip. The taxi will take you directly to Shigar Valley, and the journey will be approximately 30-45 minutes. This option is more comfortable and suitable if you're traveling with a group or with luggage.
