Car
If you're driving, start from Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Take the Leh-Kargil-Srinagar Road (NH 1D) heading towards Kargil. Drive for about 140 km until you reach the town of Kargil. From Kargil, continue on the same road for approximately 70 km until you reach the junction at Skardu. Here, you will see signs for Kuragh. Turn onto the Skardu road and follow it for about 30 km. You'll pass the PSO K-2 filling station, and Kuragh will be nearby. Total driving time from Leh to Kuragh is around 4 to 5 hours, depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Kuragh using public transport, begin your journey in Leh. Head to the Leh Bus Station and take a bus to Kargil. Buses typically leave in the morning and the journey takes about 6 to 7 hours. Upon arriving in Kargil, you can find shared taxis or local buses heading towards Skardu. Make sure to inform the driver that you want to get off at the junction for Kuragh. This part of the journey will take approximately 1 hour. Total travel time from Leh to Kuragh via public transport is around 8 to 9 hours.
Taxi
For a more comfortable journey, consider hiring a taxi from Leh directly to Kuragh. Negotiate a fare before starting your trip. The journey will take about 5 hours, and you can enjoy the scenic views along the way. Expect to pay around PKR 5,000 to PKR 7,000 for a one-way trip, depending on the type of vehicle and your negotiation skills.
