Car
If you are traveling by car from Leh to Kargil, start your journey on the NH-1D highway. The distance is approximately 220 km and takes about 5-6 hours. Departing from Leh, follow the highway through the scenic Indus Valley. You'll pass through several small towns such as Nimoo and Khaltse. Make sure to stop at the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers for a breathtaking view. Continue along the highway until you reach Kargil. Be cautious of the winding roads and check for road conditions, especially during winter.
Public Bus
To reach Kargil via public transportation, you can board a bus from the Leh Bus Stand. Buses to Kargil operate regularly, and the journey takes about 6-7 hours. The fare is approximately INR 400-600.
