Car
If you are driving from Leh, take the Leh-Srinagar Highway (NH 1D) towards Khaltse. After about 125 km, turn right onto the Lamayuru road. Continue for approximately 10 km until you reach the Lamayuru Monastery. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as the roads can be rough and winding.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From Leh, you can take a local bus to Khaltse. Buses leave from the Leh bus stand and usually operate in the morning. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours and costs around ₹200-₹300. Once you reach Khaltse, take a shared taxi or local transport to Lamayuru, which is about 10 km away and will cost around ₹50-₹100.
Shared Taxi
You can also hire a shared taxi from Leh to Lamayuru. This option is faster and more comfortable than the bus, but it will cost more, approximately ₹800-₹1200 per person, depending on the number of passengers. Shared taxis usually leave when full from designated taxi stands in Leh.
