Car
If you're traveling by car from any location in Darien, you will first need to head towards the Pan-American Highway (Carretera Panamericana). Once you reach the highway, follow the signs for Colón. The Agua Clara Locks Visitor Center is located approximately 100 kilometers from the main town of Darien. After about 1.5 to 2 hours of driving, you will arrive at the visitor center. Keep an eye out for the signs leading to the locks as you approach Colón. There is no entrance fee to visit the center, but parking may incur a small fee.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Darien to Colón. Buses frequently leave from the main terminal in Darien and the journey will take approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Colón, you will need to take a taxi or local bus to get to the Agua Clara Locks Visitor Center, which is about 15 kilometers from the bus terminal. Expect to pay around $1.50 to $3 for a taxi, or slightly less for a local bus. Be sure to check the bus schedule for the return trip, as public transport may have limited hours.
