Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the city of Colón. Head southeast on Av. Bolívar and continue onto the Pan-American Highway (Carretera Panamericana). Follow the highway for approximately 10 kilometers until you reach the junction leading to the entrance of Isla Galeta. Note that there is a toll to cross the bridge if applicable, which can range from $1 to $5. After the bridge, follow the signs to the Isla Galeta Visitor Center, where you can park your car.
Public Transportation
To reach Galeta Island using public transportation, take a bus from Colón to the nearby community of Cativa. Buses leave regularly from the central bus terminal in Colón, and the fare is typically around $1. From Cativa, you will need to arrange for a taxi or local transport to the Isla Galeta Visitor Center. The taxi ride will cost approximately $5 to $10 depending on the distance and negotiation.
Boat Transfer
Once at the Isla Galeta Visitor Center, you may need to take a boat to the island itself. Check in with the visitor center staff about boat schedules and availability. There is usually a small fee for the boat transfer, around $5 to $10 per person, which may vary based on the season and demand. Ensure to plan your return trip accordingly, as boat services may have specific hours.
