Car
From the main town of Río de Jesús in Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca, head southwest on the Pan-American Highway (Route 1) towards Santiago. After approximately 30 kilometers, take the exit towards the road leading to Río Luis. Follow the signs towards Río Luis, and continue for about 15 kilometers until you reach the village. The last part of the drive will involve navigating an unnamed road near the coordinates HR86+5VX, which leads directly to Las Golondrinas Waterfalls. Be prepared for a bumpy road and possible river crossings; a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.
Public Transportation
Take a bus from Río de Jesús to Santiago. Buses leave frequently throughout the day. Upon arriving in Santiago, transfer to a local bus heading towards Río Luis. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off near the waterfall trailhead. Once you arrive in Río Luis, you may need to walk approximately 2-3 kilometers along the unnamed road leading to the waterfalls (HR86+5VX). Alternatively, you can hire a local taxi from Río Luis to take you directly to the waterfalls, which may cost around $10-$15.
Hiking
If you are already in the vicinity of Río Luis, you can hike to Las Golondrinas Waterfalls. Start from the main square in Río Luis and follow the signs or ask locals for directions. The trail is approximately 5 kilometers long and may take about 1.5 to 2 hours to hike. Be sure to wear suitable hiking shoes and carry enough water. The trail is surrounded by lush vegetation and offers beautiful views of the landscape.
