Car
If you're driving, start from the town of David. Head east on the Pan-American Highway (Interamericana) towards the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca. After approximately 1.5 hours, take the exit towards the town of Las Tablas. Once you reach Las Tablas, follow the local signs directing you towards Cerro Alto Algarrobo. The road may become less maintained as you approach the mountain, so be prepared for rough terrain. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for off-road conditions. The journey should take around 2 hours from David, depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Cerro Alto Algarrobo using public transportation, you can catch a bus from David to the town of Las Tablas. Buses depart regularly from the main terminal in David and the fare is approximately $1.50. Once in Las Tablas, you can either hire a local taxi or take another bus that heads towards the mountain area. The taxi ride will cost around $10-$15, while the bus may be cheaper but less direct, costing about $1.00. Be sure to confirm with the driver that they will take you to Cerro Alto Algarrobo or at least close to the trailhead.
