From the center of Portobelo, head towards the main road (Calle Central). Walk north until you reach the intersection with Avenida 2. Turn left onto Avenida 2 and continue straight. After about 15 minutes, you will come to a small bridge over the river. Cross the bridge and continue up the path that leads into the forest. Follow the trail for approximately 30 minutes, keeping an eye out for signs that indicate you are headed towards Los Monos Waterfall. The path can be narrow and muddy, so wear appropriate footwear.

From the main square in Portobelo, find a local bus or 'colectivo' heading towards La Guaira. Get off at the last stop, which is near the entrance of the forest trail leading to Los Monos Waterfall. This ride should take about 20 minutes. After disembarking, walk towards the trailhead and follow the path into the forest, which takes about 30 minutes to reach the waterfall.
