Getting There

Walking
From the center of Portobelo, head northwest on the main road (Calle 4) towards the port area. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the road leading to the Panama Canal. This should take about 20 minutes. Once you reach the intersection, look for signs pointing towards Gamboa. Follow this road for approximately 5 kilometers. You will see the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center on your right, just past the entrance to the Panama Canal. It is a well-marked and popular tourist destination.

Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, start from the Portobelo Central Park. Cycle north towards the main road (Calle 4) and turn left. Follow this road as it curves towards Gamboa. This route is slightly longer, about 7 kilometers, but it offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Once you arrive at the intersection near the Panama Canal, continue following the signs towards Gamboa, and the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center will be on your right.

From Portobelo, make your way to the main transport hub where you can catch a bus heading towards Colón. Board a bus to Gamboa, which is approximately 30 minutes away. Once you arrive in Gamboa, alight at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort stop. From there, it is about a 15-minute walk to the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center. Follow the signs towards the center, and you will find it located nearby.
