Getting There

Car
If you are travelling by car, start your journey from the nearest town, Goroka, which is about 90 kilometers away from Mt Wilhelm. Follow the Highlands Highway (also known as the H5) towards the Madang Province. As you approach the vicinity of Mt Wilhelm, look for signs directing you to the village of Keglsugl, which is the closest access point to the mountain. Once in Keglsugl, follow the local roads leading towards the mountain base. Note that the roads can be rough and may require a 4WD vehicle. Parking is available at designated areas near the start of the hiking trails.

For those using public transportation, take a bus from Goroka to Madang. Buses leave regularly from the Goroka bus terminal and the journey may take around 3-4 hours. Once you arrive at Madang, you will need to find a local bus or arrange a taxi to take you to Keglsugl. This part of the journey may also take about 2-3 hours depending on road conditions.
