Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major city in the Pantanal region, such as Ciudad del Este. Set your GPS to Salto Cristal, located at -25.980998, -56.721322. Drive southwest on the Ruta 7 (also known as the Transchaco Highway) for approximately 130 km, which takes about 1.5 hours. Once you reach the junction near Ybycui National Park, turn right onto Ruta 6 and continue for another 20 km. Look for signs directing you to Salto Cristal. There is a small parking area available at the site. Note that road conditions may vary, and a 4x4 vehicle is recommended during the rainy season.

Public Transportation
To reach Salto Cristal via public transportation, first take a bus from Ciudad del Este to the town of Borja. Buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal and the fare is approximately 30,000 PYG (Paraguayan Guaraní). The journey takes about 2 hours. Once in Borja, you can catch a local taxi to Salto Cristal, which should cost around 50,000 PYG and take 30 minutes. Be sure to confirm the return trip with the taxi driver as options may be limited. It's advisable to check the bus schedules in advance as they may change.

For those who enjoy hiking, consider driving to a nearby point of interest, such as Ybycui National Park, which is about 10 km from Salto Cristal. Park your car at the entrance and hike the trails leading to the falls. The hike can take about 1 hour. Ensure you wear appropriate footwear and carry water. The trails are well-marked, but it is advisable to have a map or a local guide, especially if you are unfamiliar with the area.
