Getting There

  • Walking from Independence Hall

    Start at Independence Hall, located at 520 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Exit the hall and head east on Chestnut St. Continue for two blocks until you reach 2nd St. Turn left on 2nd St and walk north until you reach Market St. Turn right on Market St and walk towards the waterfront. After one block, you will reach Penn's Landing, where the Historic Walk begins along the water.

  • Walking from the Liberty Bell

    From the Liberty Bell Center located at 6th St & Market St, exit the center and head east on Market St. Walk for about two blocks until you reach the foot of the Delaware River at Penn's Landing. You will see signage for the Historic Walk along the waterfront.

  • Public Transportation via SEPTA

    If you are near a SEPTA station, take the Market-Frankford Line (blue line) to the 2nd Street Station. Exit the station and walk south on 2nd St until you reach Market St. Turn left and head east towards the river. Penn's Landing is directly ahead at the waterfront, where you can begin the Historic Walk.

  • Walking from the Visitor Center

    Start at the Independence Visitor Center located at 599 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Exit the center and head east on Market St. Walk for about 5 minutes, crossing 2nd St, until you reach the waterfront at Penn's Landing. You will find the Historic Walk along the river.
