Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from anywhere in the Anthracite Coal Region, head southeast on PA-61 S towards I-78 E. Merge onto I-78 E and continue for about 30 miles. Then take the exit for I-476 S toward Philadelphia. Continue on I-476 S for about 40 miles, then merge onto I-76 E toward Philadelphia. Take exit 39A for I-95 N toward New York. Continue on I-95 N for about 1 mile, then take exit 22 for Columbus Blvd toward the waterfront. Turn left onto Chestnut St, and the Science History Institute will be on your left at 315 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19106. Parking may be available nearby, but check local options as fees may apply.

  If you're using public transportation, start by taking a local bus from your location in the Anthracite Coal Region to the nearest train station. Depending on your starting point, this could be the Schuylkill Valley Metro or a local bus service to a regional rail station. Take the regional rail towards Philadelphia, which will take approximately 1-2 hours. Once you arrive at 69th Street Terminal, transfer to the Market-Frankford Line (Blue Line) towards Frankford. Disembark at the 15th Street Station, then walk south on 15th St towards Chestnut St. Turn right onto Chestnut St, and the Science History Institute will be on your left at 315 Chestnut St. Be prepared for a total travel time of about 2-3 hours, including transfers.
