Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving from the center of Susquehanna Valley, head northeast on PA-29 N. Continue for approximately 12 miles. Merge onto I-80 E toward Wilkes-Barre. After about 8 miles, take exit 273 for PA-118 toward Shickshinny. Turn left onto PA-118 W and continue for about 5 miles until you reach the town of Sweet Valley. Once in Sweet Valley, follow the signs to the Ganoga Waterfall. The parking area is located at the entrance to Ricketts Glen State Park, where you will need to pay a parking fee of $10 per vehicle for a day pass.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Wilkes-Barre to the Shickshinny area. You will need to check local bus schedules for times. Once you arrive in Shickshinny, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to the entrance of Ricketts Glen State Park. Be aware that public transport might not run frequently, so plan your return trip accordingly. Additionally, you will still need to pay the $10 parking fee if you are dropped off by taxi or rideshare.

• Hiking

  Once you arrive at Ricketts Glen State Park, you will need to hike to the Ganoga Waterfall. The trail to the waterfall is well-marked. Start at the Ganoga Falls Trailhead, following the Blue Trail markers. The hike is approximately 1.5 miles one way, with some steep sections, so wear appropriate hiking shoes. As you hike, you will encounter several other waterfalls, making the trek even more rewarding. Make sure to bring water and snacks, as there are no facilities on the trail.
