Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Huaraz, which is approximately 7-8 hours away from the Alpamayo region. Drive south on the Calle José de la Riva Agüero, then take the PE-3N highway towards Caraz. Continue along the highway until you reach the town of Cashapampa. This is the starting point for the trek to Alpamayo. Make sure to have a GPS or map handy, as road signs may not always be clear.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Alpamayo via public transportation, take a bus from Huaraz to Caraz. Buses leave frequently from the main terminal in Huaraz, and the journey takes about 2 hours. Upon reaching Caraz, you will need to take a shared taxi or van to Cashapampa, which is the gateway to the Alpamayo trek. This taxi ride will cost approximately 10-15 soles per person and takes about 30 minutes. Once in Cashapampa, you can start the trek towards Alpamayo.
