Drive south on the Calle José de la Riva Agüero, then take the PE-3N highway towards Caraz. Continue along the highway until you reach the town of Cashapampa. This is the starting point for the trek to Alpamayo. Make sure to have a GPS or map handy, as road signs may not always be clear.

    To reach Alpamayo via public transportation, take a bus from Huaraz to Caraz. Buses leave frequently from the main terminal in Huaraz, and the journey takes about 2 hours.
