Getting there

Car

From Huaraz, drive south on Av. Luzuriaga towards Calle 28 de Julio. Continue on Av. Luzuriaga until you reach the intersection with Av. Raymondi. Turn right onto Av. Raymondi and follow the road. After approximately 3 kilometers, you'll see signs directing you towards Mirador de Rataquenua. Follow the signs for another 5 kilometers until you reach the viewpoint. Parking is available nearby, but be sure to arrive early to secure a spot.

Public Transportation

To reach Mirador de Rataquenua via public transport, head to the main bus terminal in Huaraz. Look for buses or minivans that head towards the town of Colcabamba or directly to the Mirador. The fare is typically around 5-10 PEN. Once you reach the nearest drop-off point, you may need to walk approximately 1 kilometer uphill to reach the viewpoint. Be sure to ask the driver to let you know when to get off, as they are familiar with tourist destinations.

Walking

If you are already within walking distance from the city center of Huaraz, you can take a scenic route towards Mirador de Rataquenua. Start by heading south on Av. Luzuriaga, then turn onto Av. Raymondi. This walk is approximately 8 kilometers one way and can take around 2 hours. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the route includes some elevation gain.
