An unforgettable experience – made even more special by our incredible guide Porfirio! We had the most amazing experience with Salkantay Trekking. From start to finish, everything was organised brilliantly. The logistics were seamless, from all the collections and transfers to the train journey. As backpackers and hikers, having everything taken care of made such a difference. We could simply enjoy the adventure without worrying about the practicalities. The food deserves a special mention too. The chefs were absolutely incredible! Every meal was delicious, and the timing was always perfect. Even after exhausting days of hiking, we would arrive to fantastic food waiting for us. We honestly couldn’t believe the quality of the meals prepared along the trek! But the absolute highlight of the experience was our guide, PORFIRIO. Porfirio was simply outstanding. As a beginner hiker, I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He was incredibly supportive and encouraging, always knowing when to reassure me and when to push me a little further. He helped me get through some challenging sections and achieve things I didn’t think I could. He did it all with kindness, patience, humour and an infectious positivity. What makes Porfirio so special is his genuine passion for the Inca people, their history and the heritage of the incredible mountains we were walking through. His knowledge was amazing, and I learned so much from him. He didn’t just guide us along a trail; he brought the history, culture and significance of the places we visited to life. Porfirio also has an incredible ability to bring people together. We started as a group of strangers and finished feeling like a little family. His personality, warmth and enthusiasm created such a brilliant atmosphere throughout the trek. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better person to guide us through such a special experience. Porfirio is a real credit to Salkantay Trekking, and we hope the company recognises just how much value he brings to their tours. A real adventure

Our group had a great time and a large part of that was the level of service from the team. Even when one of our group fell ill the day before our departure, the team made sure she still had a great time and was able to meet up with the rest of the group hiking Inca Trail at Machu Picchu. Not only that, but everyone on the trek handled the unexpectedly inclement weather (hail, ice, three days of rain) very well and were able to keep us comfortable and fed, adjusting to the needs of the group without prompting. Deyvis, Waldir, and Gorge were excellent guides, making sure the trip was safe, but still adventurous and taught us everything they knew about the local fauna and flora, as well as history. Thank you for such an amazing experience!
