Public Transport
From the main square (Plaza de Armas) in Ayacucho, head to the nearby bus terminal (Terminal Terrestre de Ayacucho). Look for a bus heading to Huamanga or any local bus that goes towards the outskirts of the city. The fare should be around 1-2 soles. Inform the bus driver that you want to get off near Qorihuilca (Cañones de Qorihuilca) so they can drop you at the correct stop. Once you arrive, you will likely be near a small village. From there, you can ask locals for directions to the canyons, which are a short hike away.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, you can start from Plaza de Armas and head towards the Avenida 28 de Julio. Walk along this avenue until you reach the outskirts of the town. From there, follow the dirt road that leads towards the hills; this will eventually take you to the area around Cañones de Qorihuilca. The walk is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and offers beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
Bicycle Rental
Another option is to rent a bicycle in Ayacucho. There are several rental shops around the Plaza de Armas. Once you have your bike, head towards Avenida 28 de Julio, then follow the dirt path towards the canyons. The ride should take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Make sure to ask for directions if you feel unsure about the route, and enjoy the scenic ride.
