From Choquequirao, start your descent on the established trail heading towards the Apurímac River. The trek is steep and can take approximately 5-6 hours. Make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks as needed. Once you reach the river, cross it via the bridge and begin the ascent towards Puyupatamarca. This segment can take another 4-5 hours of hiking uphill through diverse landscapes. Follow the signs that lead towards Puyupatamarca, and keep an eye out for other trekkers who might be familiar with the route.
Public Transportation
After reaching Aguas Calientes from your trek, you can take a local minibus or taxi to the base of Machu Picchu. The fare for a minibus is around 5-10 soles (approximately $1-3 USD). Once in Aguas Calientes, you can take a guided tour or hike up to Puyupatamarca, which is known for its stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Train
