Car
If you are driving, head towards Chivay, the nearest town to Ovalo el Condor. From Chivay, take the road towards the Colca Canyon. The distance is approximately 15 km (about 30 minutes drive). Follow the signs for 'Mirador Cruz del Condor' which is a well-known viewpoint in the area. Ovalo el Condor is situated near this viewpoint. Upon reaching the Mirador Cruz del Condor, look for the signs directing you to Ovalo el Condor, which is just a short walk from the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
To reach Ovalo el Condor by public transportation, start from Chivay. You can take a local bus or a shared taxi that goes to the Colca Canyon. These vehicles frequently depart from the main plaza in Chivay. The fare is usually around 10 to 15 soles (approximately $3-$5). Inform the driver that you wish to get off at the Mirador Cruz del Condor. Once you arrive at the viewpoint, follow the signs to Ovalo el Condor, which is within walking distance.
Hiking
If you are feeling adventurous and are already exploring the trails in Colca Canyon, you can hike from the base of the canyon up to Ovalo el Condor. Starting from the trails near Chivay, it will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the viewpoint, depending on your pace. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear suitable hiking shoes, as the terrain can be rocky.
