Car
If you are driving from Chivay, head southwest on the main road (Route 30A) towards the town of Cabanaconde. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers. Once you reach Cabanaconde, look for signs directing you to Huarancante. You will need to take a dirt road from Cabanaconde that leads you towards the mountain peak of Huarancante, which is located at latitude -15.7304 and longitude -71.5251. Be prepared for a rough terrain; a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. The trip from Chivay to Huarancante will take around 1.5 hours depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Huarancante by public transportation, take a bus from Chivay to Cabanaconde. Buses run regularly and the fare is approximately 10-15 soles. Once you arrive in Cabanaconde, you will need to find a local taxi or a shared taxi (colectivo) to take you to Huarancante. The colectivo fare should be around 20-30 soles per person. This transport may take an additional 30-45 minutes depending on the number of stops and road conditions.
