Car
From Cusco City, head south on the Avenida de la Cultura, then take the road towards Sayhuite. Continue on this road for about 50 km until you reach the town of Pitumarca. Once in Pitumarca, follow the signs to Montanha Colorida (Rainbow Mountain). The last stretch of the drive is a dirt road, so ensure your vehicle can handle it. Parking is available near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
From the main bus terminal in Cusco, take a bus to Pitumarca. The journey takes approximately 2 to 3 hours, and buses run regularly throughout the day. Once you arrive in Pitumarca, look for a shared taxi or a local van (known as a 'colectivo') that can take you to the Montanha Colorida trailhead. The cost for the taxi ride is around 10-15 soles. Make sure to negotiate the fare if needed.
Hiking
After reaching the trailhead (2HCM+893, Pitumarca), you will need to hike approximately 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit of Montanha Colorida. The trail can be steep and rocky, so wear appropriate hiking shoes and bring water. It is advisable to start early in the morning to avoid crowds and enjoy the scenery.
