Getting There

• Car

  From Cusco, take the road towards Abancay (Route 3S). After approximately 3 hours of driving, you will reach the town of Cachora. Here, you can park your car. Note that parking facilities are limited, so arrive early to secure a spot. From Cachora, you will need to trek to Choquequirao as no vehicles can access the archaeological site directly.

• Public Transportation - Bus

  Head to the Terminal Terrestre in Cusco and take a bus to Abancay. The journey takes about 3-4 hours, costing between 15 to 25 soles. Upon arriving in Abancay, transfer to a bus heading to Cachora, which takes approximately 1 hour and costs around 5 to 10 soles. Once in Cachora, you will need to start your trek to Choquequirao.

• Trekking

  From Cachora, the trek to Choquequirao takes about 2 to 3 days depending on your pace and fitness level. The trail is well-marked but can be steep and challenging. It is advisable to hire a local guide for safety and to enhance your experience. Expect to pay around 100 to 200 soles for a guide. Make sure to carry enough supplies, including food, water, and camping equipment if you plan to stay overnight.

• Guided Tour

  For a more convenient option, consider booking a guided tour from Cusco. These tours typically include transportation to Cachora, a guide, meals, and sometimes camping gear. Prices vary widely, but you can expect to pay anywhere from 600 to 1,200 soles per person for a 3-day trek, depending on the inclusions.
