To reach Botadero from the main entrance of Huascaran National Park, drive towards the town of Huaraz. From Huaraz, take Route 3N heading towards Carhuaz. Continue on this road for approximately 25 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 107. Turn left onto Route 107, which will take you through scenic landscapes. After about 30 kilometers, watch for signs leading to Botadero. The final stretch is a gravel road; it's advisable to use a 4x4 vehicle for better access. The coordinates for Botadero are approximately -9.2207, -77.9273. Ensure you have a reliable GPS or map to assist in navigating the last few kilometers.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, start from Huaraz and take a bus headed towards Carhuaz. Buses run frequently, and the fare is usually around 5-10 soles (approximately $1-3 USD). Upon arriving in Carhuaz, you will need to take a taxi or a shared van (colectivo) towards Botadero. The taxi fare should be around 30-50 soles (approximately $8-15 USD) for the 30-kilometer ride. Make sure to confirm the drop-off point, as some drivers may not be familiar with 'Botadero' but will know the general area around Purhuash.
