Car
If you're traveling by car, start your journey in the town of Ollantaytambo. Drive along the road towards the Inca Trail, which is well-marked. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. Follow the signs for 'Inca Trail' and 'Wayllabamba'. You will reach the official start of the Inca Trail, where you can park your vehicle. Make sure to have your trekking permits ready, as you'll need them to continue into the trail.
Public Transportation (Collectivo)
From Ollantaytambo, you can take a collectivo (shared taxi) to the starting point of the Inca Trail. Collectivos leave from the main square in Ollantaytambo. The fare is typically around 10-15 soles per person and the trip takes about 30-40 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at the 'Inca Trail entrance' or 'Wayllabamba'. Ensure you confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the Inca Trail entrance, follow the marked path leading towards Wayllabamba. The trek is relatively moderate and takes about 4-5 hours depending on your pace. The path is well-trodden, but it is advisable to have a guide if you're unfamiliar with the area.
