Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Ollantaytambo. From Ollantaytambo, head southeast on the road towards Urubamba. After approximately 10 km, turn left onto Route 28B, which leads you towards the Sacred Valley. Continue on this road for about 20 km until you reach the intersection near Tauca. Look for signs indicating Juchuy Coscco. The final stretch is a dirt road leading directly to the site. Be cautious, as this road can be rough in some areas. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Juchuy Coscco using public transportation, start your journey from Ollantaytambo. Take a local bus or colectivo (shared taxi) heading towards Urubamba. The fare is typically around 5-10 soles. Once in Urubamba, you will need to transfer to another colectivo that goes in the direction of Tauca. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the intersection for Juchuy Coscco. The fare for this leg is about 10 soles. After getting off, you will need to walk approximately 2 km on a dirt path which leads directly to Juchuy Coscco. It’s recommended to ask locals for precise directions if needed.
Hiking
If you prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to Juchuy Coscco. Start your hike from Tauca, which is accessible by local transportation from Urubamba as mentioned earlier. The hike from Tauca to Juchuy Coscco is approximately 4 km and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the trail that heads eastwards; it’s well-marked by occasional signs. Make sure to wear sturdy hiking shoes and carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
