7-Day Jungle Survival Training in Iquitos

A real jungle experience!

I spent 8 days in the Amazon with Hector and 3 Matses guides: Armando, Denis, and Hernán, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken. What I appreciated most is that this wasn't a "tourist version" of the Amazon. We traveled deep into the rainforest, spent days away from civilization, slept in simple camps, fished for our meals, learned survival and hunting, and experienced the jungle in a way that very few visitors probably do. We even built a small raft from scratch using materials from the forest. It was physically demanding at times, but also very rewarding Héctor did an outstanding job organizing and planning the logistics. Everything ran smoothly, so the focus was on the experience. A real highlight was the Matsés and their almost frightening level of knowledge about living in the jungle, which made the experience feel very genuine. This isn't a luxury trip, it's a way to really experience the real, humid, rainy, hot, dangerous and unforgiving jungle, while still feeling safe Thank you, Héctor, Denis, Armando, and Hernán, for sharing your knowledge and your culture. Spectacular experience from start to finish!! Starting with the interaction with Byron to coordinate the pickup at the hotel and the transfer to the lodge, to the end of the trip when they dropped us off at the Iquitos airport. While most accommodations offer similar experiences, the Amazon Jaguar Adventure & Lodge stands out for being an authentic family business, with local people who truly know and respect the environment. This was what made us decide on them, and we could not have been more right! The rooms were impeccable, clean, and super comfortable. Many thanks to Álvaro for ensuring we had everything we needed, including the spiral for mosquitoes (which ultimately was not necessary, because the rooms are fully protected with mosquito nets). The food... wow, a superior level! Abundant and of very high quality. All cooked by Lourdes, who always surprised us with authentic, diverse, and delicious dishes: fish, chicken, vegetables, eggs, rice, noodles, and more, always accompanied by different fruits and natural juices. The excursions, led by Alex, were super educational and fun. Even with rain, no plan was ever canceled, and we never stopped enjoying. Absolutely fantastic! We were lucky to see a lot of species of animals and plants, we fished, swam in the Amazon, walked through the jungle day and night, rowed... everything. There was always something different to do. At the same time, we had the freedom to explore the nearby village of the lodge, a truly rewarding experience that allowed us to meet the people who inhabit that place. We highlight the kindness, willingness, and professionalism of everyone. They were always attentive to us and to ensure we lacked nothing. Special mention to Robin, the helmsman of the boat, who took care of all our transfers with the best attitude. In summary: 100% recommended for its comfort, authenticity, and above all, for the quality and warmth of the human touch.

Survival/challenge for 15 days

I did a survival/challenge trip for 7 days and stayed 8 more days in Jersualem, Sergio's native community (my guide) The organization was impeccable, I always felt accompanied by Sergio, he was very hospitable, attentive and close, as well as Hector, a really trusted person, takes his job very seriously and professionally and it is rating that he really wants you to have the best experience possible. During the crossing, I had the possibility to see an anaconda, monkeys, macaws, toads, alligators and other animals. Also the coexistence with the native community was very nice, they received me with very warmth.
