Car
If you are driving, start from the center of Lares. Follow the main road (R329) heading southeast. Continue on this road for approximately 8 km until you reach the area near the coordinates R329+CHP (Latitude: -13.1989105, Longitude: -71.9310325). Look for signs directing you to Volcán de Lares. The road can be winding and may require careful navigation due to the mountainous terrain.
Public Transportation
From Lares, take a local bus or colectivo (shared taxi) heading towards Calca or Cusco. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the 'Volcán de Lares' area or the closest stop. The fare is usually around 5-10 soles. Once you get off, you may need to walk approximately 2 km to reach the base of Volcán de Lares, following local paths or asking for directions from residents.
Hiking
If you are already on the Lares Trek, follow the trail that leads south towards the Volcán de Lares. The path is marked, but be sure to carry a map or download one on your phone. It should take about 4-5 hours of hiking from your current location on the trek to reach the volcano. Make sure to bring enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the way.
