If you are driving from Puerto Maldonado, start by heading southwest on Avenida Jorge Basadre. Follow the signs to the Interoceánica Sur highway (also known as the BR-40). Continue on this highway for approximately 40 kilometers until you reach the entrance to Reserva Nacional Tambopata. There may be a small fee for vehicle entry, and make sure to have cash on hand for this. The entrance is marked with signs, and you may need to park your vehicle before proceeding to the park office.
