Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Mollepata. Head south on the main road (PE-28) for about 1 hour until you reach the small village of Soraypampa. From Soraypampa, continue on the dirt road leading toward the Salkantay Trail. After approximately 30 minutes, you will arrive at the trailhead for Juchuy Coscco. Be aware that the last part of the road may not be well-maintained, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended. Parking is usually available near the trailhead.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a minibus from Cusco to Mollepata. The minibus departs from the Pavitos bus terminal and the journey takes about 2 to 2.5 hours. Once in Mollepata, you can find shared taxis or local transport heading to Soraypampa. The taxi ride will take about 1 hour and costs around 20-30 soles per person. From Soraypampa, you can start your hike to Juchuy Coscco, which takes approximately 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace.
Hiking
If you are already on the Salkantay Trail, make your way toward Juchuy Coscco by following the well-marked trail signs. From the nearest campsite, it is about a 2-3 hour hike uphill. Be sure to carry enough water and snacks, as there are no facilities along the trail. Enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains as you make your way to the site.
