If you're traveling by car, start on the Pan-American Highway (Route 1) heading south. Continue until you reach the town of Mejía. From there, take the road towards the Lagunas de Mejía, which is well-marked. The distance from the highway to the sanctuary is approximately 15 kilometers. Make sure to check your GPS for accurate directions and road conditions. There is no entrance fee for the sanctuary.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a bus from Arequipa to the town of Mejía. Buses frequently depart from the main terminal in Arequipa. Once you arrive in Mejía, you can either take a taxi or walk approximately 2 kilometers to the Lagunas de Mejía sanctuary. The bus fare is around 20-30 soles (approx. $5-8) and the taxi fare from the town to the sanctuary should not exceed 10 soles (approx. $2.50).

If you're feeling adventurous and are already in the vicinity of the sanctuary in Mejía, you can walk to the Lagunas de Mejía. Follow the main road towards the lagoons, which is about a 30-minute walk. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the area can be hot during the day.
