Car
If you are driving, start from the town of Puerto Maldonado. Head southeast on Avenida Jorge Basadre. Follow the signs for the Interoceanic Highway (also known as PE-30). Continue on the highway until you reach the town of Tambopata. From there, take the road towards the Tambopata River. Look for signs directing you to Refugio Amazonas, which is located on the right side of the Tambopata River. The journey may take about 2-3 hours depending on road conditions.

To reach Refugio Amazonas via public transportation, begin in Puerto Maldonado. Head to the main bus terminal and look for buses or shared vans heading to Tambopata. The ride typically costs around 10-15 soles and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Tambopata, you may need to arrange for a local taxi or motorbike taxi to take you to the riverbank where you can find transportation to the lodge.
