Car
If you are driving from Pucallpa, take Avenida R. Ugarte and follow it to Av. Jorge Basadre. Continue on this road until you reach the junction with the Carretera Federico Basadre. Head south on this road towards the town of Atalaya. After approximately 150 km, you will reach Atalaya. From Atalaya, continue south on the road towards the town of Purus. The entrance to Parque Nacional Alto Purus is located just outside of Purus. Ensure your vehicle is prepared for rough terrain as some parts of the road may be unpaved.
Public Transportation
To reach Parque Nacional Alto Purus via public transportation, start from Pucallpa. Head to the main bus terminal and take a bus heading to Atalaya. The bus ride will take approximately 6-8 hours and costs around S/. 30-50. Once you arrive in Atalaya, look for a local minibus or mototaxi that can take you to Purus. This last leg of the journey might cost around S/. 10-20. Upon arrival in Purus, you can ask locals for directions to the park entrance.
Boat
An adventurous way to reach Parque Nacional Alto Purus is by using river transport. From Pucallpa, you can book a riverboat trip that goes downstream on the Ucayali River towards the town of Atalaya. This journey will take longer, approximately 10-12 hours, and costs around S/. 50-80 depending on the service. Once you arrive in Atalaya, you can take a mototaxi or walk to the entrance of the park. Be sure to check the boat schedules in advance as they may vary.
